A Weekly Dose of Rainbows- Fishtail braid

Hey all

I had a nightmare of a time trying to get this manicure done. Believe it or not but this is my 4th attempt at getting this right. It was so frustrating but I really wanted to get it done. In the end I just painted on random stripes to make it look fairly similar to a fishtail braid.

I used Catrice Run Forest Run seeing as it is so opaque and I haven't used a Catrice polish in a while. Then I picked out Sally Hansen Complete salon manicure in 641 Belle of the Ball and Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in 300 Electra-Cute to go along with it. I wanted it to be a mix of bright polishes but still go with a Halloween theme. I left two of my nails with just a white base so the fishtail design would be more striking.

I actually really like the Fishtail look but I honestly don't have the patience to do any more of them!

Twinsie Tuesday- Interlocking nail design

Hey all,

I'm not overly pleased with the way this turned out but it's the best of a bad bunch. I was really in the humour of doing my nails but I said I'd give it a go and try and get something done. I picked out 2 random polishes from my collection just to "spice" it up a bit. I tend to stick to a certain selection of polishes and I didn't want to get stuck in a rut.

I started off with 2 coats of Catrice Goldfinger. This is a pale gold, very shimmery with a decent formula. It's not great on my skin-tone but when you pair it with a bold polish I think it works well enough. The purple is Catrice Heavy Metallilac and let me tell you, this polish is a thousand times better in person. No joke. It's a metallic purple (kind of obvious from the name) It's packed with a pink shimmer and it glows on the nail. It's beautiful!

I used dotting tools to connect the design and on my accent nail I simply added on some striping tape over the gold and painted the purple on top. Pretty simple design to do and you can mix and match with whatever polishes that take your fancy.

Twinsie Tuesday- One stroke flower manicure

Hey all,

For the Twinsie Tuesday challenge this week we had to create a one stroke flower manicure. I hadn't heard of this technique before now. After a bit of googling I realised I didn't have the brushes you would need to create the one stroke flower. Instead of using brushes I tried it with dotting tools and you get a fairly decent flower effect with them.

I have on 3 coats of Stargazer 103 (which I swatched last week). Once that had dried I added on an accent nail using F4 Oh Splat! For the flowers I dotted on Catrice Raspberry Fields Forever. Over that I added Catrice Sold out forever. I repeated this pattern one more and then filled in the rest of the nail with Raspberry fields forever.

Even though it's a complete cheat mani, seeing as they still look flowery it's a fair compromise!

Twinsie Tuesday- Weather inspired

Hey all,

My beloved dotting tools came in handy for this week's Twinsie Tuesday Challenge. The theme of the week was "Weather inspired". I went for a simple cloud manicure. I started off with two coats of Lac Attack Puddle jumping. Using a medium sized dotting tool I added on the clouds.

The blue flecks in Puddle jumping looked like a shower of rain so the manicure definitely captured the weather in Ireland at the moment.

Attack of the Cherry Blossom

Hey all,

The weather here is pretty dire at the moment but I'm not complaining , I actually prefer it this way.  It's so nice to read a book when it's dark and rain is hitting against the window.  I also got the chance to catch to on Educating Yorkshire. Such a good show! I'm going to be so sad when it ends. I hope they do another series next year.

Today's nails are pretty simple. 2 coats of Sally Hansen Complete salon manicure Shoot the moon with a coat of Lac Attack Cherry Blossom Bloom on top. I love shoot the moon. It is such a great silver foil and it applies so nicely. I've been wearing the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes a lot lately and I really love their formula. Cherry blossom bloom added a nice bit of colour to liven up the silver a little bit. I have been playing around with glitters a fair bit recently so expect more glitter manicures to pop up in the next few weeks.

Twinsie Tuesday- Splatter!

Hey all,

Splatter nail art is not my favourite to be honest. I have tried it a few times and I never really get the result I want. Nevertheless seeing as today's challenge was a splatter design I had to give it one more go and see how it went. I only copped on at the end that I used all Barry M nail polish for this design.

Barry m Mushroom is the base polish. It's fairly opaque but I put on 2 coats just to be on the safe side. Then I put a layer of vaseline around my cuticles and sides of my nails. I really hate cleaning up after splatter/ mater-marbled nail designs. It's so fecking awkward. Then using a straw I started off with Barry M Greenberry, a gorgeous aqua polish from the Gelly collection. Then I added on lychee from the same collection and I finished with Papaya which also stems from the gelly collection.

I finished it off with a coat of Essence Gel look topcoat and that's all there is to it. I'm still not fond of the splatter deisgn but sure it's always worth a shot. Check out the other splatter posts from the rest of the Twinsie Tuesday ladies:

Tweezerman manicure/pedicure kit

Hey all,

So a couple of weeks ago I applied for the Tweezerman ambassador program. Basically they send you products to try out and you review them and give them feedback on their website.I'm not going to lie, I applied for this because we cannot get any of their items here except for the a tweezer. Just because I got this product for free do not think that I am going to praise them to a height. I will be completely honest because it benefits no one if I just say everything is amazing if it isn't. This is just going to be a quick overview of the kit and I'll be doing an individual post for each item so you really get a feel for the product.

This is how the set looks. You actually can't buy this set, you have to buy all the products individually which I think is an awful shame. This would be awful handy for both bloggers and just normal everyday people that like to take care of their hands and feet . I was actually told that I would be getting a brow kit when I got accepted so when I opend the box I literally giggled with delight! This will get far more use and I can give a far more detailed and informed opinion about this than a brow kit.

Above you can see the three different kinds of file they have included in the pack. From left to right:
Sansation nail file, Premium emory board and Eco friendly file.

Master tech Ingrown toenail file and cleaner

Pushy stainless steel cuticle pusher

Satin etched Zebra clipper set (stainless steel)

Satin etched cuticle nipper

Pedro Callus stone

Bonus gift of a full sized slant tweezer.

The kit is well put together. Each item feels solid and durable. I have used all of the  items abar the sansation nail file and the eco-friendly file. I am actually really pleased with the kit as a whole.  As I said at the beginning I will be doing individual posts as I believe this is the best way to give a full and accurate description of each product. I have had this kit for about a week now so I feel I can give you all a a proper review of the items. There are some bits that I would change but I will go into detail in the separate posts.

What are yer first impressions of this kit?
